The Team

Our trustees are dedicated to making sure the planning and running of all our events goes smoothly. We have a great team of ladies that work really well together. We are pleased to introduce them to you here.

Wenches_Headshots_-5Sue Robinson F.R.S.A – Founder, Events Manager & Chairperson

Sue has lived in cornwall for many years has a degree in history. Sue’s grannie was a VAD in WW1 and a trained nurse in WW2 hence her interest in getting recognition for the Nurses and VAD’s. Sue has worked with many charities and foundations for years. Sue formed Wenches in 2007 and has organised events ever since.

Wenches_Headshots_-3Suzanna Green –  Secretary, PR & Social Media

Suzanna joined Wenches in 2011 when she lived in Cornwall. Suzanna’s husband is an Army Veteran, as is her father, father-in-law and most of her male relatives. Suzanna joined Wenches as she feels very strongly about the need for a lasting memorial to the Nurses and VAD’s as well as helping those who have been injured due to their military service. Now living in the North East, Suzanna continues to be an extremely active member of the team

Liz Trevarton

Liz lives in mid Cornwall and works as a Practice Manager in a GP practice. With 2 grown up sons, 1 husband and lots of animals, including her treasured dog Vinnie, Polly and Roy her pigs, 6 goats, 2 cats, numerous chickens and ducks, a tortoise and a Rankins dragon. Liz was sad to learn that memorials for nurses and VADs are practically non existent and so is honoured to be part of Wenches In Trenches to raise money for a cause that is close to all our hearts.

Justine Smith

Justine is a Nurse Practitioner living and working in West Cornwall.  Fascinated since school by the First World War and the nurses and other medical staff who were involved, particularly because her Grandfather, served as a stretcher bearer notably at Delville Wood and 2 of his cousins lost their lives at Ypres and Arras. Having the opportunity to be involved with Wenches In Trenches is something very special and dear to Justine’s heart.
