Somme Walk Day 3

So we have done it, another year over. We have finished our second day of walking in France. We began the day at Citadel Cemetery, walking up towards Bois Francais passing Point 110 Old and New Cemeteries. We had some rather unforeseen sound effects for todays walk. It was the shooting season on the Somme! So every now and then we could hear the sound of gunfire, this was a very surreal effect while we were walking. At one point we were passed by a very large hare running away from a hunters dog.
We visited the site of the infamous Levens Flamethrower, visited Fricourt German Cemetery saw the headstone for Harry Fellows and the Mametz Welsh Dragon memorial. Of course we visited the Wenches In Trenches bench at Lochnagar Crater where we laid a poppy cross.
We would like to say a massive thank you to Ian McHenry who guided us on this walk, he was a brilliant guide and really made the walk so much more interesting. Thank you to Ian McGill for being our driver. Thank you to Sue Robinson for all your tireless work behind the scenes, without you we would not be here!
Thank you to all the walkers, you were stars and without you there would not be a walk. One last thank you to all the people who have supported and sponsored our walkers this year. It has been a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
