Lochnagar Crater Memorial

lochnagar craterAs you know our mission over the next 3 years is to get a lasting memorial to the Nurses and VAD’s of WW1. We are extremely proud to announce that we have secured permission for one such memorial.  Our memorial will be situated at Lochnagar Crater on the Somme. This is a wonderful honour for us to have been given permission to place a memorial at Lochnagar.

This memorial will honour all Nurses, VAD’s and medical personnel that served in WW1, no matter their nationality. We hope to have the unveiling of this memorial on 1st July 2016 which will be the  100th anniversary.

  1. Dear Wenches,

My Grandmother served as a VAD from 1915 to 1919 at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.

My son and I visited Lochnagar Memorial Crater in May of this year.I noticed a plaque to Edith Cavell. I was also a nurse for 46 years. I had a Grandfather and 4 Great Uncles who served during WW1 two lost thief lives. Let us live in peace.

    regards Patricia
